Edubray Ramos demoted to Lehigh Valley

Viewed as a potential closer entering 2017, reliever Edubray Ramos has been optioned to triple-A Lehigh Valley. On June 16, Ramos had a solid ERA of 3.03 after a clean inning against the D-Backs. Today, June 26, Ramos’ ERA has skyrocketed to 5.52. He’s allowed a run in his last five appearances and on two of those occasions, failed to retire a batter. Control has been the main issue for the 24-year-old, walking 22 batters in 31 innings pitched. That’s more than six walks per nine innings. Ramos will try to get things right in Lehigh Valley in enough time to prove he’s a mainstay in the Phils’ bullpen. Given his age and stuff, it’s still a possibility. Ricardo Pinto

has been recalled as a result.
