Nick Pivetta spins gem in 7-1 win

After getting pounded in Arizona last weekend, Nick Pivetta rebounding incredibly nicely with a strong seven inning, one hit, one run performance in the series finale against the Mets. The rookie had everything working, and didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning when T.J. Rivera

blasted a solo shot to left.

The Phils jumped Mets’ starter Rafael Montego with a four run second and a three run eighth to put the game out of reach. Daniel Nava went 3-for-5 out of the leadoff spot with a two-RBI single in the eighth. Tommy Joseph, Nick Williams, and Andrew Knapp posted two hits apiece. Three games into Williams’ big league career, he’s hitting .364. Maikel Franco contributed with a tw0-RBI double in the second for his only hit in the 7-1 win.

The Phils return home for a Fourth-of-July week series against the Pirates starting tomorrow night at 7:05.
