Gameday 2018: Phillies (0-0) at Braves (0-0)

Happy opening day, Phillies Nation!

It’s #NolaDay, too, as the Phillies visit the Braves to begin the 2018 regular season. The Phils are predicted to finish somewhere around .500 by most outlets, but there are more than a few experts who think our boys are going to reach the postseason. Expectations are as high as they’ve been in at least six years.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Santana – 1B
  3. Williams – RF
  4. Hoskins – LF
  5. Altherr – CF
  6. Crawford – SS
  7. Franco – 3B
  8. Knapp – C
  9. Nola – P

Pitchers: Aaron Nola (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Julio Teheran (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Odubel Herrera is on the bench today, as is Jorge Alfaro. No reason as to why Herrera is on the bench, but apparently Gabe Kapler is glad

that the outfielder is upset about it.

Let’s get this season rolling.

Your Gameday Beer: Yup. We’re having beers, baby. Start the year with the dank The Shape of Hops to Come from locals Neshaminy Creek. Sit back, enjoy this hoppy, boozy delight, and dream of the season ahead as the Phils throw it down for the first time.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
