Gameday 2018: Phillies (0-1) at Braves (1-0)

Thankfully, they play baseball nearly every day. We can put yesterday behind us and hope the outcome is much better today. The Phillies visit the Braves for the second of three at SunTrust.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Santana – 1B
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Hoskins – LF
  5. Altherr – RF
  6. Kingery – 3B
  7. Knapp – C
  8. Pivetta – P
  9. Crawford – SS

Pitchers: Nick Pivetta (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Mike Foltynewicz (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Odubel Herrera is back in the lineup in center field, while J.P. Crawford is down in the nine-hole. Also, Andrew Knapp is starting for the second-straight day, leaving Jorge Alfaro on the bench. So that’s about it-

OH WAIT, right. Scott Kingery makes his major league debut tonight.

Here we go.

Your Gameday Beer: We need to wash away yesterday’s terrible finish, so I suggest a clean, crisp pilsner. Let’s go with Steamworks Pilsner, one of the best I’ve ever had of the style.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
