Gameday 2018: Mets (19-17) at Phillies (22-16)

UPDATE (8:08 p.m.): The game has been postponed and rescheduled for Aug. 16. Which is weird because it’s part of an existing four-game series that includes a game in Williamsport. Anyway, no game tonight.

So we’re late, but it doesn’t matter, because the game is in rain delay!

Tonight’s game against the Mets may start around 9 or 9:30 p.m., which seems ridiculous. But hey, maybe it’ll start then.

Meanwhile, PIX11 here in New York is showing some bloopers show instead of the game. This is not good television.

Gametime: Who the hell knows

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Altherr – RF
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Hoskins – LF
  5. Santana – 1B
  6. Franco – 3B
  7. Kingery – SS
  8. Alfaro – C
  9. Eflin – P

Pitchers: Zach Eflin (1-0, 0.71 ERA) vs. Noah Syndergaard (2-1, 3.09 ERA)

Whenever this starts, win this game. Please.

Your Gameday Beer: I just had Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, an all-time favorite that can’t be beat. Hoppy, rounded and malty as hell, it’s as good as it gets.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
