Gameday 2018: Phillies (16-12) at Marlins (10-18)

I didn’t get a gameday post up last night. Honestly, that was a good decision.

Tonight the Phillies look to reverse their recent (mis)fortunes.

Gametime: 7:10 p.m.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Hoskins – LF
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Altherr – RF
  5. Santana – 1B
  6. Franco – 3B
  7. Kingery – SS
  8. Alfaro – C
  9. Eflin – P

Pitchers: Zach Eflin (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Jarlin Garcia (1-0, 1.00 ERA)

Zach Eflin makes his 2018 debut for the Phillies; in Lehigh Valley he was decidedly Zach Eflin (4.05 ERA, 15 K, 5 BB).

Your Gameday Beer: Honestly, Sierra Nevada may be the best pound-for-pound brewery in America. Always consistently good. I love Torpedo, one of the great West Coast IPAs at 7.2 percent ABV. Drink this, but not too many if the Phils play like they have recently.

Go Phillies!

Tim Malcolm

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
