Report: Phillies promote top hitting prospect Adam Haseley to Double-A

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly moving their top overall position prospect up a level in his ascension to the major leagues.

According to PhilliesNation alum Jay Floyd, currently writing at PhoulBallz.com, the Phillies are promoting 2017 first-round pick Adam Haseley:

Haseley, who MLB Pipeline rated as the organization’s No. 3 overall prospect at the beginning of the season, was slashing .300/.343/.415 with five home runs, 38 RBIs and 19 walks Single-A Clearwater. For what it’s worth, the former No. 8 overall pick is now listed on the Double-A Reading Fightin’ Phils roster.

The 22-year-old was a dual-threat star at the University of Virginia, starring both as an outfielder and as a pitcher. Haseley figures to be a corner outfielder at the major league level, likely in right field given that neither Odubel Herrera or Rhys Hoskins figure to be moved from their current positions in the next few years. While MLB Pipeline projected at the beginning of the season that Haseley would reach the major league level in 2020, if he continues to hit at Double-A, his major league debut could come sooner.
