Video: Bryce Harper hears boos in return to D.C.

Bryce Harper spent the first seven seasons of his career as a Washington National. He’ll spend the next 13 – at least according to his contract – playing for the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. That means nine times every season, he’ll play at Nationals Park as a visitor.

After signing a $330 million contract to join the Phillies in early March, Harper returned to his old stomping grounds for the first time Tuesday evening. He wasn’t cheered:

Harper, 26, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft by the Nationals. In seven seasons in the nation’s capital, Harper made six All-Star teams and won the 2015 National League MVP. Harper helped the Nationals to reach the playoffs four times in seven seasons, but the team never advanced past the NLDS during his tenure.
