Larry Shenk’s Phillies Minor League Report: 5/25/19

“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

Lehigh Valley, International League North Division

**IronPigs (24–20) trailed 6–5 after 2 innings but wound up losing, 15–8, as the Buffalo Bisons pounded out 19 hits. Loss dropped LV into second place .5 behind Scranton/Wilkes-Barre . . . LF Lane Adams, 4–5, run, 2 runs, double, HR (9). 3B Damek Tomscha, 2–5, run, RBI, double. 2B Gift Ngoepe, grand slam, HR #4 . . . LP: Tyler Viza (0–4), 5.2–11–9–8–2–3, 2 HR. INF Jose Antequera tossed a scoreless ninth . . . Nick Pivetta (4–1), scheduled for 6:35 tonight vs. Buffalo.

Reading, Eastern League Eastern Division

**Fightin Phils (24–18) were squashed by a 9-run fifth inning that led to an 11–2 win for the host Harrisburg Senators. Fightins are in third place, 2 games out of first place . . . 1B Darick Hall, 2–4, RBI, double (11). SS Arquimedes Gamboa, 2–5, run, RBI. 3B Austin Listi, 2–4, run. LF Josh Stephen, 2–3. CF Mickey Moniak (1–5) extended his hitting streak to 9 games; has reached base in 14 straight games; hitting .318 in May. . . LP: Mauricio Llovera (2–1), 4.1–6–5–4–1–5, 2 hit batters . . . Ramon Rosso (3–1), 6:00 tonight in Harrisburg.

Clearwater, Florida State League North Division

**Threshers (24–24) reached .500 with a 3–1 morning win in Jupiter. Clearwater started the season 2–9. Threshers are in third place, 4.5 games out of first place . . . 1B Matt Kroon, first game since promotion from Lakewood, 2–3, walk, run, double, RBI. LF Jake Scheiner and CF Ben Aklinski drove in the other 2 runs. 3B Alec Bohm, 2–4, run, 17th double (overall); hitting .335 between Lakewood (22 games) and Clearwater (23 games). Threshers have had an extra base hit in 23 straight games . . . WP: Ethan Evanko (2–0), 5–5–1–1–0–5, hit batter; 75 pitches, 56 strikes. Kyle Arjona

, in his Clearwater debut, 3–1–0–0–1–5. SV: Keylan Kilgore (3), 1–1–0–0–0–1. 11 strikeouts boosted the staff’s total to 458, tops in the FSL (419.1 IP) . . . Colton Eastman (1–2, 2–4 overall), 5:30 tonight in Jupiter.

All-Stars
LHR Jonathan Hennigan, LHS Damon Jones, SS Nick Maton, CF Simon Muzzitio, OF Mat Verling have been named to the North squad for the FSL All-Star game, June 15, in Jupiter.

Lakewood, South Atlantic League North Division

**BlueClaws (15–32) got blown out by the Delmarva Shorebirds for the second straight game, this time 12–2. Road record dropped to 6–20 after a 1–8 trip . . . Lakewood had only 3 hits, one being a HR for 1B Luke Miller, making his SAL debut . . . LP: Ethan Lindow (1–2), 4–6–5–5–1–2, hit batter . . . Dominic Pipkin (2–1),4:05 tonight at home vs. Kannapolis Intimidators.

**Dominican Summer League season opens June 2. Phillies will field two teams, Red and White.

**New York-Penn League (Williamsport Crosscutters) season opens June 14.

**Gulf Coast League season opens June 24 at Carpenter Complex. Phillies again will field two teams, East and West.
