Odubel Herrera arrested on domestic violence charge, placed on leave by MLB

Odubel Herrera was arrested on Monday night in Atlantic City following a domestic dispute with his 20-year-old girlfriend, according to Jim Salisbury and Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

This took place at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Matt Gelb of The Athletic confirms the story, adding that Herrera was charge for “simple assault”.

According to the police report, the victim “had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck that was sustained after being assaulted by her boyfriend, David Odubel Herrera, during a dispute.

Per Major League Baseball’s Domestic Violence policy, the Commissioner can place any player suspected of domestic violence, sexual assault, or child abuse on administrative leave for up to seven days while conducting an investigation.

The Commissioner can choose to suspend or reinstate the player, or can defer judgment until after criminal proceedings conclude. The policy does not include minimum or maximum punishments.
