On the Monday June 17, 2019 edition of Locked On Phillies, Phillies Nation Editorial Director Tim Kelly breaks down a deflating series loss against the Atlanta Braves over the weekend.

While Kelly cautions that standings wise the Phillies are still in a good position to reach the postseason in 2019, he looks at alarming trends at both the top and bottom of the starting rotation.

Later in the show, Kelly previews the opening game of the Phillies four-game series with the Washington Nationals.

Are Nola’s eyes closed in the middle of his pitch delivery?!?

The Phillies are poised for the wheels to fall off of this 2019 season.

They do not have a five man pitching rotation and half their bullpen is on the dl.

Nola is having a subpar season and Arrieta is looking more and more like a 4th or 5th starter every outing.

I place at least some of the blame on Kapler. By allowing the starting rotation to go 5 to 6 innings early on, he managed to win a lot of games early, but at the price of over stressing his bullpen. Now those chickens have come home to roost.

They need to go out and get a 5th starting pitcher RIGHT NOW. In another two weeks, their season could be down the drain. The team is already a game back for a wild card.
