“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.
In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

Pitching: 24-year-old LH Damon Jones made his AAA debut, a no decision as the starter, 5.1–2–2–2–3–6, hit batter; 94 pitches (55 strikes). An 18th round pick out of Washington State in 2017, Jones is 5–3, 1.47 ERA, 1.00 WHIP in 16 starts between Clearwater, Reading and LV; 125 strikeouts, 37 walks in 85.2 innings; allowed 3 HR . . .

**Fightin Phils (15–9) earned a split in a 4-game series vs. the Trenton Thunder with an 8–2 win that featured 14 hits and a 5-run B4 . . . Three-game series against the Rumble Ponies in Binghamton begins at 6:35 tonight; first meeting between the 2 teams . . . First place lead over Hartford remains at 4 games.
Pitching: Reliever Seth McGarry, making his second straight start, picked up the win (2–0), 5–1–1–1–1–5, HR. He hadn’t started since his pro debut season in 2015 . . . Jakob Hernandez, 3–2–1–1–0–1 . . . Jeff Singer, 1–0–0–0–0–2.

Clearwater, Florida State League North Division [36–30, 2nd place, 1st half]
**Threshers (14–13) were shut out for the fifth time this month and swept in a 3-game series by the Florida Fire Frogs, 4–0. Third time they’ve been swept, all at Spectrum Field . . . League-wide day off today . . . 6:30 tomorrow night in Bradenton against the Marauders . . . Second-place Threshers trail Dunedin by 4 games.
Pitching: Spencer Howard was dominating in his second start since coming of the IL, 5–0–0–0–1–7; 68 pitches (49 strikes) in facing 15 batters; has given up 1 hit in 9 innings after returning to the active roster . . . LP: Tyler Carr (2–1), 2–2–1–1–1–1.

**BlueClaws (7–15) were swept in a 3-game series by the visiting Hagerstown Suns. Sunday’s score was 10–5 . . . Three-game series in Salisbury, MD, against the Delmarva Shorebirds begins tonight at 7:05
Pitching: Victor Santos, first of 3 hurlers, was charged with the loss (4–7), 5–4–4–4–1–3, HR, balk.
Hitting: C Rafael Marchan, 2–5, double (14), 2 RBI . . . LF Yerwin Trego, 1–3, walk, run, HR (#1), RBI; homer was his first in the states. Had 1 in 2016 and 2017 in the Dominican Summer League.
Williamsport, New York-Penn League Pinckney Division
**Crosscutters (8–21) lost, 4–3, to the IronBirds at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen . . . Cutters will try to salvage a win in the 3-game series at 7:05 tonight.
Pitching: Starter Erik Miller made his NYPL debut as the starter, 2–2–1–0–1–2, hit batter . . . Adam Leveret, second of 4 hurlers, was the loser in his debut, 2.2–3–2–2–0–3, HR.
Hitting: Bryson Stott hit a home run in his first pro at-bat in the GCL (July 9). He did the same in his first at-bat with Williamsport, a 2-run blast in T1 into the Aberdeen bullpen in RF; 1–3, walk, hit by pitch, run, HR, 3 RBI. His third RBI came in T9 when he walked with the bases loaded. The Cutters still had 3 on with 1 out, but a strikeout and infield grounder ended the game.
