Larry Shenk’s Phillies Minor League Report: 7/14/19

Larry Shenk is the longtime Philadelphia Phillies official historian, and brought his Minor League Report and other historic pieces to Phillies Nation beginning in 2019.

Phillies Nation is honored to have Larry Shenk among the ranks of our regular contributors.

“The Baron” is the former Philadelphia Phillies head of community relations, a role in which he served the organization for more than four decades. Larry is also a 2018 inductee to the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.

In addition to the Phillies alumni and history work which Larry shares with readers here at Phillies Nation, his “Minor League Report” pieces now also run with us all during the season as well.

phils have no concept; s. american recruit program total failure for position players; almost total failure for chuckers. No concept of southpaws whatsoever. Stat analysis so overrated it humerous. Put pete rose in charge of team and you would see what winning is. Nothing better than pete on 1B with putout and trots across mound and spike das mohinder. A thing of beauty. ex oriole boss flops never get phils to go. poor cigar billionaire be poor soon with anywho spending hims cash. must institute run hit, hit run, bunt like harper does againt shift alot more (a thing of total beauty), steel bags, sac bunt every time leadoff man on do it, double steel (run harper run i dont care how many times you tossed out keep pressure on, nice try), get king on 2B all the time, move current 2B and 3B pronto for chuckers lefties. where is next 18 yr old rick wise at connie mack? get him now but scouts proven over many years simply ineffective. where rick wise-guaranteed not s. america. try asia for recruits? try anything beyond south america. europe london? conclusion: team needs baseball people in charge who appreciate history and know what it takes like pete rose. team never go with genius ivy leegers calling shots NB: team never got to next level til petey arrived. who coaches hurlers? they dont teach much to fine arms like piveta, vasquez who glaringly need off speed skills but never improve. too bad such a waste of raw talent. manufacture runs a first and every opportunity. waiting for big inning and you be waiting til next annum
