Bryce Harper, Phillies look to get hot in afternoon game vs. Giants

Bryce Harper led off Friday night, and led the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-6 victory with two home runs that totaled 876 feet in distance. Less than 24 hours later, Harper will lead off again for Gabe Kapler’s squad, and the Phillies hope that Friday night was the start of a a long-awaited power streak for the six-time All-Star.

Saturday afternoon, just a half game out of the second Wild Card spot in the National League, the Phillies will look to clinch at least a series split in their four-game weekend series in San Francisco.

  • In a 5-1 loss to the Giants on July 31 at Citizens Bank Park, Velasquez tossed five innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits.
  • In 11 starts at Oracle Park in 2019, Samardzija has a 3.57 ERA.
