The Philadelphia Phillies have 14 games remaining heading into play on Tuesday night in Atlanta and they sit five games out of the a Wild Card spot. Unfortunately, they will be without one of their offensive weapons for the remainder of the season. The Phillies have officially announced that outfielder Corey Dickerson is out for the season with a fractured left foot. Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Dickerson has a navicular fracture, an injury that Dustin Pedroia sustained in 2010. Acquired from the Pirates on July 31, Dickerson provided the Phils with some more offensive firepower. He was originally acquired to be more of a bench bat, but he played his way into a starting role.

In 34 games with the Phillies, Dickerson slashed .293/.307/.579 with 10 doubles, two triples, eight home runs and 34 RBIs. Injuries have limited him to just 78 games in 2019. Dickerson is a free agent at season’s end and while he’s a career .286 hitter, his injury history should be a concern for the Phillies. In three of his seven seasons, injuries have kept him from playing more than 80 games. At 30 years old, the Phillies could certainly sign him back to a low-risk type deal, but his hitting pedigree could land him more money on a multi-year deal elsewhere.

Right-hander Edubray Ramos has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list and will join the Phillies bullpen for the rest of the season. Ramos has appeared in just 18 games for the Phillies this season, posting a 5.14 ERA in 14 innings. He’s one season removed from a 2018 campaign that saw him post a 2.32 ERA in 42.2 innings. He last pitched on July 15.
