On the Wednesday Nov. 27, 2019 edition of Locked On Phillies, Phillies Nation Editorial Director Tim Kelly breaks down the latest developments on the pitching market.

Specifically, Kelly argues that it would behoove the Phillies to be more aggressive in their pursuit of the top available pitcher, RHP Gerrit Cole.

Nola, Madbum, Wheeler, Arrieta and Eflin will win
alot of games if healthy. Realmuto, Hoskins, Kingery, Segura, Brohm, Harper, Dickerson, ( that’s right Dickerson re-sign him, Bruce is to slow.)
    and Cutch. Madbum 3yr. 70M Wheeler 4yr. 76M
    Dickerson 3yr. 50M = 196M which is 125M saved
by not signing either Cole/Rendon. Remember
Madbum is only 30 and a lefty so he is worth the risk. Dickerson hits for avg. and is looking for
a place to call home/security. I would like this all done by 12/15 if need be I’ll do the negotiations.

Barry, if you are going to write articles and come across like you are educated then please take a phonics course on proper grammar. Bruce is to slow. It is too slow. Grammar is used for a reason. It’s also quite important to someone who uses the typed word as their job.

I like the way you think. Rather then sign 1 big guy spread it out a bit. Only problem is cutch won’t go anywhere because they can’t trade him even thought I would rather have Dickerson over him. Bumgardner could be a risk since he has thrown a lot in his career and doesn’t do well in small ballparks so he would be awful in philly. Wheeler had never had a full healthy season so that tells a lot. I think they should get didi and go after strasburg who has risk but is fucking insane when on.

My heart would like to have Cole Hamels back this year. This is not my brain talking, which would argue that other fa pitchers might be more effective. But my heart tells me he loves the Phillies and would pitch better than what we have now. He would impart on some of the younger players , what it means to be a Phillie.
