Phillies Nation Perfect Season: Howard falls triple short of cycle in victory over Mets

Every day until Opening Day arrives, Phillies Nation will take a daily look back at a regular season victory from that particular day in history that you can watch in full in lieu of live Phillies baseball. Think of it is as your daily Phillies watch recommendation.

Ryan Howard recorded 11 hits in his first 23 plate appearances of the 2011 season.

It was a less than ideal start for fifth starter Joe Blanton. After three scoreless innings, the Mets put up a total of seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Just like that, the Phillies early 7-0 lead vanished. But the Phillies offense came in clutch, scoring three more runs to lead the team to their fourth victory of the 2011 season. Ryan Howard went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and a single.
