April 13, 2009 will go down as one of the darkest days in Phillies history. Beloved broadcaster Harry Kalas died suddenly at the age of 73 just hours before the Phillies were scheduled to play a game against the Washington Nationals. Everyone who knew Harry and everyone who grew to love spending their summers listening to him mourned his loss deeply. Baseball was secondary that day but the Phillies found a way to defeat the Nationals by a score of 9-8 with the loss still deeply entrenched in their hearts.
