Plácido Polanco’s Phillies career is an intriguing one. He was acquired in the Scott Rolen trade and was one of the team’s better players in the mid-2000’s. In 2005, he was traded to the Detriot Tigers to make way for Chase Utley and returned to the team in free agency in 2011, becoming an All-Star in his first season back in red pinstripes.

On May 14, 2012, Polanco achieved a significant milestone: his 2,000th career hit. It came in the eighth inning on a two-run home run off Astros pitcher David Carpenter, extending the Phillies lead to 5-1. It was his first home run of the 2012 season. Polanco also became the 17th active and 268th player of all-time to reach the milestone:
