Phillies broadcasters will most likely call road games from Citizens Bank Park

According to 670 The Score’s Bruce Levine, if there is a season this year television and radio broadcasters have been informed that they will not be traveling for road games.

It is likely that the Phillies broadcasting crews – Tom McCarthy, Ben Davis, John Kruk, Greg Murphy (television) and Scott Franske, Larry Anderson and Kevin Frandsen (radio) will be broadcasting road games from Citizens Bank Park according to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Scott Lauber.

Making Citizens Bank Park the hub location will allow each broadcasting crew to better properly practice social distancing measures. Unlike a normal season, they will now be able to use both their normal home booth along with the away teams booth. This will eliminate the typical cramming, on top of each other feel.

In the event there is baseball this year, broadcasting these games remotely does pose some challenges. The in the moment, feeling of energy when making a call will be gone. In addition, there is a possibility of a delay with the feed from watching the game on the monitors.

All of this is still not set in stone as neither the MLB and the union have come to a resume of play agreement but it is a sign of what should be many new “norms” to come if there is baseball played this year.
