Players association agrees to report to spring training camps

According to multiple sources, the Major League Baseball Players Association has informed the league that it intends to report to camps by July 1. Both sides are still working on health and safety protocols, but this is not expected to delay the resumption of spring training in any way.

The Phillies will hold camp in both Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, as Jim Salisbury reported earlier on Tuesday that the team plans on utilizing their Triple-A facility. It is likely that the facilities in Lehigh Valley will also host a select group of minor leaguers who are expected to be ready to contribute to the big league club in the event they are called up.

On Monday, the league implemented a 60-game schedule after the union rejected MLB’s final proposal. The players association had until 5 pm today to tell the league whether or not they intend to report to camps and agree upon health and safety protocols. It appears the two sides have extended the deadline for the latter.

Update 8:42 pm: According to multiple reports, both the union and league have agreed upon health and safety protocols. The negotiations are officially over and Phillies baseball is back!
