My First Phillies Game: Kim attends the first game at the Vet

April 1971.

We had purchased a Sunday season ticket plan in section 226 right beside the Phillies dugout but we were looking for a section to get full season tickets. Just walking into the ball park that first game and seeing the field, hearing the chatter and the sound of the ball hitting the bat and glove made me love the game.

Seeing Larry Bowa get that first Phillies hit in Veterans Stadium made me a fan for life.

This season was the first time since 1971 that I did not attend a game in person. My greatest memories from those games are the people I have met and have become lifelong friends.

Here’s to the next 50 years of Phillies baseball and friendships!
