The Phillies combined for six home runs in yesterday’s 15-0 landslide victory over the New York Yankees. It’s only right if Bryce Harper was in on the fun.

With Didi Gregorius on first, Harper smacked a 1-1 sinker off Pirates pitcher Chad Kuhl to the opposite field for a two-run home run to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.

The Phillies have decided to proceed with some caution with Harper in the early days of spring training. A lingering back injury slowed down his 2020 season, which began with an MVP-like streak. Through Aug. 22, Harper slashed .343/.478/.714. From then on, he still posted an .827 OPS in 36 games but judging by some of the miscues he had in right field, it was clear he wasn’t fully healthy.

He singled to right in his second plate appearance. All is good in Clearwooder.
