Watch: Didi Gregorius makes insane catch to end the top of the ninth

Gregorius made a spectacular play in today’s game against the Braves. (John Jones/Icon Sportswire)

The left side of the infield was a walking web gem on Opening Day. Alec Bohm made a leaping catch to save two runs in the top of the sixth and Didi Gregorius made an impossible catch with his back to the diamond, ending the Braves’ half of the ninth.

On a 1-2 count, pitcher Héctor Neris threw a slider that Ozzie Albies looped into shallow left-center field. Battling the midday sun and all, Gregorius fell to his back and scooped up the ball for the final out.

Maybe the Phillies defense isn’t as big of a problem as we thought.
