Watch: Rhys Hoskins launches home run to make it a one-run game

The Phillies were down and out. Tom McCarthy said it best during the broadcast: It felt like a ten-run deficit despite the fact that it was only a four-run deficit. The fans were itching for something to cheer for. A Bryce Harper single and an Andrew McCutchen double gave them just that.

What really got the fans on their feet was what came next. After going down 1-2 in the count, Rhys Hoskins did not miss a hanging breaking ball to make it a one-run game.

Hoskins’ 22nd home run of the year could not have come at a better time. With two strikes on him in 2021, Hoskins has nine home runs and 25 RBIs. The Phillies still trail 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth but have all of the momentum on their side.
