The Philadelphia Phillies honored one of the greatest pitchers in franchise history on Sunday, retiring the No. 34 of the late Roy Halladay in a ceremony at Citizens Bank Park ahead of the team’s game against the New York Mets.

Halladay, a posthumous inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019, spent four seasons with the Phillies after being traded from the Toronto Blue Jays after the 2009 season.

The right-hander’s first two seasons in Philadelphia were among the best of any Phillies pitcher. In 2010, Halladay led the majors with 21 wins, won the National League Cy Young Award, threw the 20th perfect game in major-league history against the Florida Marlins and tossed the second no-hitter in postseason history against the Cincinnati Reds in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. He followed with a 2011 campaign in which he started the All-Star Game and headlined a star-studded rotation that included Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt that led the Phillies to their fifth consecutive National League East title.
