The international signing period opened for business on Saturday, and the Philadelphia Phillies haven’t wasted any time: They signed outfielder Neify Rosario and officially landed shortstop William Bergolla Jr. Those two signings were among 10 deals that the Phillies reportedly have reached thus far.

Rosario is a 17-year-old center fielder from the Dominican Republic’s Mata De Palma Baseball Academy. The right-handed hitter was one of the top prospects in the academy’s 2021 class and received a signing bonus of $550,000:

The Phillies also officially signed Bergolla in a move that had been forecasted earlier this week. Also a 17-year-old right-hander, the Venezuelan shortstop is known for his line-drive power, arm strength in the field and all-around high baseball IQ. MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez ranked Bergolla, who signed for $2.2 million, as the fourth-best prospect in this year’s international class:

Rosario and Bergolla were just two of 10 players the Phillies reportedly signed on Saturday. Per NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury, the team also signed center fielder Romel Mendez, second baseman Aaron Escobar and left-hander Edwar Chirinos from Venezuela; right-hander Enrique Segura, right-hander Jeffrey German, shortstop Leny Carela and center fielder Manolfi Jimenez from the Dominican Republic; and shortstop Nolan Beltran from Columbia.

The Phillies have not officially announced any of the deals. The team, ineligible for competitive balance draft picks, has a bonus pool allocation of $5,179,700 for the international signing period.
