Jimmy Rollins to co-host new podcast focused on baseball’s ‘unwritten rules’

Philadelphia Phillies icon Jimmy Rollins is slated to co-host a new podcast that focuses on baseball’s so-called “unwritten rules.”

Rollins will co-host what’s being dubbed “Unwritten: Behind Baseball’s Secret Rules” with former All-Star pitcher Ron Darling, who also has gigs as an analyst for SNY‘s coverage of the New York Mets, TBS‘ postseason coverage and on MLB Network‘s studio programming.

“I am thrilled to partner with Ron on ‘Unwritten,’” Rollins said. “Coming from two guys who played at two different times and both cover the game in its current state as broadcasters, we have so much knowledge and experience to pull from.  It’s going to be unlike anything else out there.”

The show — which will be produced by Audacy‘s 2400Sports — will offer a weekly look into debates on in-game etiquette, which often come with a generational divide.

Slated to premiere on June 1, “Unwritten” will include episodes with guests such as Larry Bowa, Sean Casey and Gary Sheffield.

A second-round pick in the 1996 MLB Draft, Rollins spent parts of 15 seasons with the Phillies, winning the 2007 National League MVP, making three All-Star Game appearances and winning four Gold Glove Awards. Rollins also helped lead the Phillies to five NL East titles, two NL pennants and the 2008 World Series title. In June of 2014, Rollins passed Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt to become the all-time hits leader for the Phillies.

Rollins, who last played in 2016 for the Chicago White Sox, has kept himself busy since his career concluded. He’s currently a studio analyst for Turner Sports, and a special advisor to the president of baseball operations for the Phillies. The 43-year-old has also occasionally done some broadcast work for NBC Sports Philadelphia‘s coverage of the Phillies.
