Self-serve popcorn machine to debut this weekend at Citizens Bank Park

The second-half campaign officially begins on Friday when the Phillies open a six-game homestand against the Chicago Cubs. With it comes some new additions to the ballpark experience.

Starting Friday, Citizens Bank Park will become the first professional sports venue in the world to have a self-serve popcorn machine. The Philly Pop! self-serve popcorn machines by Gold Medal will serve a special Chickie’s & Pete’s inspired popcorn featuring the old bay seasoning you’d usually find on the company’s signature crabfries along with a “tangy white cheddar flavor.”

The machines are located outside section 110. The popcorn itself will set you back $6.50 plus tax.

If you’re looking to find a more traditional bag of buttery movie theatre popcorn at the ballpark, you’re going to have to buy it the old fashion way at a concession stand.

Also debuting this weekend is the Budweiser Batter’s Eye Bar in Ashburn Alley. The Phillies say Gary “Sarge” Matthews will be in attendance on Saturday to serve as a celebrity bartender.
