Yu Darvish is a five-time All-Star, who has twice finished as the runner-up in Cy Young Award voting. At the end of his career, the 36-year-old will have quite an impressive resume.
Also, forever on his resume will be the 488-foot home run that he gave up to Kyle Schwarber in Game 1 of the NLCS, the new longest home run in Petco Park history:
After losing in Game 1, Darvish had a pretty hilarious reaction when asked about the home run that he gave up to Schwarber, his former Chicago Cubs teammate.
“Next time I see him, I might have to punch him,” Darvish said via his interpreter in a “playful” manner, according to ESPN‘s Alden González.
The home run was Schwarber’s first of this postseason, a welcome sign after an ice-cold start to the playoff run. However, it’s his 10th career postseason blast, as Schwarber continues to build a legacy as one of the best playoff home run hitters of his era.
Six years after he helped the Cubs to snap a 108-year World Series drought, Schwarber and the Phillies are just three wins away from playing in the Fall Classic.
