The New York Mets are looking for a No. 3 radio play-by-play broadcaster and a familiar name is reportedly under consideration.

Mike Puma of the New York Post says the Mets are considering IronPigs broadcaster Pat McCarthy for a role in their radio broadcast booth. He would occasionally fill in for Howie Rose on some Mets road games.

McCarthy was added to the IronPigs broadcast team in 2019. He’s also done play-by-play work for St. Joe’s and Princeton men’s and women’s basketball.

McCarthy has filled in occasionally for his father Tom on Phillies television broadcasts as well Scott Franzke on radio broadcasts over the last two years. He called his first major league game from the NBC Sports Philadelphia studio on August, 22, 2021 when the Phillies took on the Padres in San Diego.

The Mets are in the midst of a major shakeup on the radio side. Wayne Randazzo, the No. 2 radio play-by-play guy and Rose’s broadcast partner, left the booth for a television job with the Angels. To take his spot, the Mets reportedly hired Keith Raad, who was formerly the voice of the Mets’ Single-A affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones.
