Former Philadelphia Phillies reliever Brad Hand has a new home.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Hand has inked a Major League deal with the Colorado Rockies that will pay him $1.5 million in 2023. The deal, per Rosenthal, also includes a $7 million club option for 2024, which comes with a $500,000 buyout. Additionally, Hand will make an extra $1 million if he’s on the Opening Day roster or the injured list to start the 2023 season.

Once one of the game’s top relievers, Hand signed a one-year/$6 million deal to join the Phillies last March. Hand would post a 2.80 ERA, 3.93 FIP and 0.3 WAR across 55 games in what turned out to be his lone season with the Phillies.

While the majority of high-leverage relief situations against left-handed hitters went to either José Alvarado or Ranger Suárez in the playoffs, Hand did make seven appearances in the 2022 postseason, posting a 4.76 ERA.
