Fan falls into visitor’s bullpen at Citizens Bank Park

(Cheryl Pursell/Phillies Nation)

A scary moment caused a delay in Friday’s Phillies-Red Sox game.

Play stopped in the top of the first inning after a fan, according to a report from NBC Sports Philadelphia, fell into the visitor’s bullpen from Ashburn Alley. The fan was trying to retrieve a ball tossed to him. It landed in the flower bed below the barricade. The fan tried to retrieve the ball and fell into the area between the mound closest to the wall and the stairs.

Medical personnel rushed to the area when occupants of both bullpens called for help. The fan was carted off with a visible wound on his face. Play resumed moments later.
