You’re invited to an exhibit on the legacy of Philadelphia Negro League baseball

Now through August 24 at Cherry Street Pier, come experience the A League Apart exhibition – showcasing the importance of breaking barriers through the stories of the Philadelphia Negro Leagues and their ongoing legacy.

It focuses on four Barrier Breakers in particular: Octavius Catto, Ed Bolden, Richard “Dick” Allen, and Mo’ne Davis.

With photos and stories from the past, A League Apart focuses on the people who stepped up to the plate to change the biases and traditions of baseball.

The best time to visit is on a “First Friday” from 4 to 9 pm. Listen to music from the Sistah Soul Series, grab food and drinks from local vendors and enjoy artist studio tours and stunning views of the Delaware River.

The exhibit is free and open seven days a week:

  • Sunday: 11 AM–9 PM
  • Mon-Thurs: 12–9 PM
  • Friday: 12–11 PM
  • Saturday: 11 AM–11 PM

Cherry Street Pier is located on 121 N. Columbus Blvd.

Check out exclusive exhibit merchandise from Shibe Vintage Sports and pick up a free four-pack of cards at the stand just across from the exhibit. If you can’t make it down to Cherry St., sign up to receive a courtesy pack in the mail.
