Former Phillie Brad Miller has a new home.

He is signing a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com.

Miller, 34, played in 108 games over the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers after signing a two-year, $10 million deal with the club prior to the 2022 season. He missed significant time in each of the last two seasons with hip, neck, oblique and hamstring injuries. He won a World Series with the Rangers in ’23, though he did not appear in a playoff game for Texas.

Two of his best seasons came with the Phillies. He was originally acquired in 2019 in a trade with the New York Yankees and filled in for the injured Andrew McCutchen. He slugged .610 in 130 plate appearances, hitting seven home runs in his last eight starts of the 2019 season.

He returned to Philadelphia in 2021 and posted a .774 OPS with 20 home runs in 377 plate appearances.

Miller will get the chance to compete for a bench spot in San Diego.

He was one of many former Phillies remaining on the free agent. Last year’s big trade deadline acquisition Michael Lorenzen is reportedly seeking a two-year contract, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Noah Syndergaard, Jean Segura and Brad Hand, among others, are still free agents.
