If you build it, Kameron Misner will come.

The Phillies added the recently acquired outfielder to their big-league roster ahead of Thursday night’s Field of Dreams game in Iowa, the club announced. Misner will serve as the 27th man that Philadelphia is allowed to carry for the neutral-site matchup against the Minnesota Twins.

Misner, 28, was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. A left-handed-hitting outfielder, he’s played 97 career games in the major leagues for the Rays and Royals across parts of three seasons. He was designated for assignment by Kansas City last month and traded to the Phillies organization for cash on July 25.

Since joining the IronPigs, Misner has batted .195 with a .674 OPS in 12 games. But his overall minor-league numbers have been strong between Lehigh Valley and Omaha, where the Royals’ affiliate plays. His Triple-A OPS is .900 in 75 games.

Misner is capable of playing all three outfield positions and has a career .571 OPS in 276 big-league plate appearances. The No. 35 pick in the 2019 draft could return to Lehigh Valley after the stint in Iowa, as Philadelphia is only permitted to roster the extra position player for the one game.

The Phillies (64-58) are heading to the Field of Dreams outside of a postseason spot. They are tied with Arizona, but the Diamondbacks have a better head-to-head record and would get the tiebreaker for the third National League Wild Card. Philadelphia has six weeks to get itself back into playoff position, but things have not gone to plan for the club lately. The Phillies are 10-15 since the All-Star break, have lost their last two series and just lost two games in a row in St. Louis with aces Cristopher Sánchez and Zack Wheeler on the mound.

Veteran right-hander Aaron Nola will start for the Phillies versus Minnesota’s Taj Bradley in Iowa before the teams continue the three-game series on Saturday at Target Field.
