Every day until Opening Day arrives, Phillies Nation will take a daily look back at a regular season victory from that particular day in history that you can watch in full in lieu of live Phillies baseball. Think of it as your daily Phillies watch recommendation. May 22, 2009 – Phillies 7, Yankees 3 The Phillies were looking to end the Yankees' nine-game win streak in their first appearance at the new Yankee Stadium. Raul Ibanez hit 34 home runs during the 2009 season. (Rich Kane/Icon Sportswire) It was a face-off between the top home run-hitting teams in each league, and they both lived up to their reputations. Jimmy Rollins set the tone for the Phillies by nailing a home run to right field off the first pitch from A. J. Burnett: Immediately after the Rollins home run Chase Utley stepped up to the plate and was hit by a pitch. Whether he was hit by Burnett on purpose or by accident is unknown, but when Brett Myers took the mound he sent a message by throwing a wild pitch that barely missed Derek Jeter’s leg. The home plate umpire stepped in with a warning and prevented any other questionable play from taking place for the rest of the game: https://youtu.be/n7zMjwSmdvg?t=640 On the mound, Myers was locked in. He pitched 1-2-3 innings in the second and third and did not allow any runs until the bottom of the sixth. The Phillies shined on offense throughout the game, with Rollins, Ibanez, Ruiz and Jayson Werth combing for four home runs. Ruiz’s two-run homer at the top of the second inning marked his first home run since October 2008. Werth made history with his home run during the top of the fifth inning by becoming the first player to hit one into the second deck of the new stadium: https://youtu.be/n7zMjwSmdvg?t=4393 Phillies Lineup Jimmy Rollins, shortstopChase Utley, second baseRaul Ibanez, left fieldRyan Howard, first baseJayson Werth, right fieldShane Victorino, center fieldMatt Stairs, designated hitterPedro Feliz, third baseCarlos Ruiz, catcher Brett Myers, starting pitcher Yankees Lineup Derek Jeter, shortstopJohnny Damon, left fieldMark Teixeria, first baseAlex Rodriguez, third baseHideki Matsui, designated hitterNick Swisher, right fieldRobinson Cano, second baseMelky Cabrera, center fieldKevin Cash, catcher A.J.
