Gameday: Brewers (44-52) at Phillies (43-54) – Phillies Nation
2012 Gameday

Gameday: Brewers (44-52) at Phillies (43-54)

Milwaukee Brewers (44-52) at Philadelphia Phillies (43-54)

Marco Estrada (0-4, 4.10) vs. Vance Worley (5-6, 3.82)

Time: 1:05, Citizens Bank Park
TV: CSN
Weather: Mostly Sunny, 92
Media: Twitter and Facebook

Another day, another unbelievable comeback.  The Phillies will go for the sweep this afternoon.

Vance Worley’s last start can be summed up by one bad inning. Worley allowed a five-spot in the sixth inning against the San Francisco Giants.  He made one bad mistake to Brandon Crawford, which turned out to be the game. Worley is still having a fine year, and has minimized talks of a sophomore slump.

Marco Estrada spent some of the season in the bullpen.  As a starter this season, he has struggled, going 0-4 with a 4.45 ERA.  He was placed on the disabled list in June, but has been a little better since his return.  In his last four starts, he has had a quality start or better.  His strikeout totals have been off the charts recently, fanning 45 in 24.2 innings.

Your gameday beer: Since the Phils are playing Milwaukee today, we have to go with Miller High Life, which is brewed in Milwaukee. Don’t ever mess with the champagne of beers.

GO PHILLIES!

    Scary times.

I am excited for a game for the first time since like april.

More importantly Howard took a big walk last night. Working a count etc etc.
If he and the rest of the line up decided to be selective.

This team could come back and would even be a threat in the playoffs.
In the past Charlie seemed t discourage this though.

I am hoping maybe they have changed a little.

    Go phils

Whoever writes the game preview articles every day is shorting the Phillies one win. It’s 44-54, not 43-54. But I suppose baseball-reference.com and MLB.com could be wrong…

Note to Bastardo: You do NOT give in to Ryan Braun. The best hitter in baseball is gonna smash whatever you offer him near the plate.

5-5, bottom of the 8th. Here we go!

Papelbon in the top of the 9th with a tied game… label me nervous. If he can get through it unscathed, however, we have the heart of the lineup due up in the bottom of the 9th.

Major screwup by the Brew Crew lets us go to the bottom of the 9th tied… phew. Papelbon needs to get shots of adrenaline from now on before coming into a non-save situation. For real.

    Hoping for magic! Again!

Couple months ago, the Phils might have looked at 6-5, and gone to 8 or 9-5.

    So, it’s a ballgame.

I think Bastardo needs to see a sports psychologist ASAP; his problem is definitely mental, especially offering Braun stuff to hit. Another great comeback by a rejuvenated Phillies team, making for some fantastic baseball. Glad the long and drawn out Hamels saga is done. Chooch is still an animal and how about Kratz?! Go Phils
