Rotation Altered to Align Aces For Weekend – Phillies Nation

Rotation Altered to Align Aces For Weekend

With tonight’s game rained out, the Phillies have announced the rotation will be adjusted. Originally supposed to start Friday, Roberto Hernandez will take his next turn as a starter on Tuesday against Toronto while Cliff Lee takes Hernandez’s place on Friday. Lee will be followed by A.J. Burnett and Cole Hamels on Saturday and Sunday to face the Washington Nationals. All three pitchers are pitching on regular rest. Kyle Kendrick and Herandez will round out the five game homestand on Monday and Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Just heard that Moises Sierra was dfa’d by the bluejays, I’ve been following this kid for a while and I really like him, I think if the phillies get the chance they should absolutely claim him

Sierra is interesting. He had a decent albeit limited showing in 2013 with a very good OBP (terrible the year before) but he has started the 2014 campaign a la Galvis with an BA and OBP of around .50 apiece. He doesn’t seem to be a HR hitter (when he was hitting) but has gap power and he’s not a base stealer. Apparently, Sierra does have an above-average arm.

His inconsistencies at bat are a little scary but then again this team’s current filler options in the outfield are either wounded or struggling back in the minors. I’m just not sure the Phillies can afford two bench guys hitting 150 points below the Mendoza line.

Yeah, I guess I’d at least sign him to a minor league contract. Less of a long shot than many given contracts.

I wonder if he can play CF ? If so than i would look into it. The Phils are thin there and while Gwynn is ok defensively his bat worries me. SInce Revere seems to be always diving and flopping around chances of him needing a sub are high i presume.
