Phillies Fall to Dodgers, 2-0

Last night, the Phillies fell to the Dodgers, 2-0. Some main points:

-The Phillies were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position. They had Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw in some deep counts, although he did strike out nine over six innings.

-Kershaw is a beast. Man, he’s good. So is Yasiel Puig, as much of a space cadet as he is.

-Roberto Hernandez stuck around for 6 1/3 and kept the Phillies in the game while they failed miserably to capitalize in run-scoring situations once again.

-Antonio Bastardo looked solid through two innings in the eighth and ninth.

-Chase Utley doubled for the 20th time this season. He’s on pace for 72!

Bastardo always looks solid when we are trailing. Lol. However, when we are leading….

Then the team just has to make sure their trailing in the late innings.
Simple. Done. Geez Ed, that was obvious.

    Gameday 4
    : Dodgers vs. Phillies 5/24/14
Check out the look on Buchanan’s face now that he’s out of the game and at the mercy of the bullpen. Doesn’t look comfortable.

Crapelbum always makes the game exciting… nothing wakes up the crowd like putting the go-ahead run at the plate when you have a 2 run…

Phillies have been great on the weekends this year. Unfortunately for the Phillies, there are five weekdays and two days on the weekend. Good start to the MLB career for David Buchanan.

Revere had a good day today but he needs more of them. Maybe the dumb baserunning play he made last night lit a fire under him. Last year, he got hot just after he had the three base error in New York.

That might be the crucial point. Maybe cover news but no pre-game analysis.

I don’t know if this is the right place to put this comment, but this is about the Saturday afternoon game.

I really liked the way the kid Buchanan pitched. I hope to see him continue to improve and possibly make it as a rotation pitcher in 2015. That said, I also hope they don’t rush him. His minor league numbers, while good, aren’t exceptional. So hopefully at 25 he’s a bit of a late bloomer and I wish him well.
