Gameday 57: Phillies vs. Nationals

phillies

other

Philadelphia Phillies (24-32) vs. Washington Nationals (28-28)

Starting Pitchers:
PHI: AJ Burnett (3-4, 3.79)
vs.
WAS: Stephen Strasburg (4-4, 3.15)

Time: 7:05, Nationals Park
TV: CSN
Weather: Sunny, 81
Media: Twitter and Facebook

A Note for Tonight:

The Phillies are having a tough time scoring runs and they’ll try again tonight against Stephen Strasburg.

Some updates on a few players. Darin Ruf has hit the DL with wrist and knee issues after slamming into the wall last night in a Triple-A game. But nothing is broken, which is good. Cliff Lee still has not resumed baseball activities. It has been 18 days since he has pitched and the closer it gets to the trade deadline without him pitching, the less and less the Phillies will receive if they attempt to deal him.

Lineup:  Rollins SS / Utley 2B / Byrd RF / Howard 1B / Ruiz C / Brown LF / Brignac 3B / Revere CF / Burnett P

Sorry naysayers I can’t help it, I’m a lifelong fan.

Is it too early to say AJ’s pitching very well tonight?

There seems to be a mistake with my Comcast channel guide…it says channel 847 has MLB baseball, but I changed to that channel, and there was a Phillies game on.

There should be a law against 90 mph change-ups.

I was just thinking before the announcers said it watching AJ nibbling there…must suck to go out there knowing you have to be perfect.

Pretty sad the game is all but over at 2-0. Oh well..time for some DVR

Took a gamble there pitching around Desmond. Didn’t work but it wasn’t a poor strategy once he was in the jam. And then Strasburg gets a hit. Oh boy when it’s going bad for you, it’s hard to turn it around.

The Espinosa double led to an interesting reaction.

I started scanning the ads on the site, and besides reminding me of a Yankee broadcast with tons of spots, I noticed the pic of Rose in the ad for the Asian Dating site. She cleans up good.

It’s like every time someone rolls a pebble down a hill, they get an avalanche.

I have to enjoy the small victories, because that’s all we’re going to get this season.

At least no one can complain about Jimmy not busting it down the line. And then Rendon answers immediately.

If anyone is concerned about the offense, no worries, we’ve only got Fister and Cueto the next two games.

    Don Zimmer has passed away.

He should be in the Hall of fame.

Anyone know what’s wrong with Utley? His average is plummeting and he looks uncomfortable on the field. I’m wondering if his knees are acting up and he’s just too stubborn to say anything.

Hes 35 years old and has the body of a 90 year old.

That he was having a good of a season is a true testament to him.

Now if anyone will give you anything in return send him to a contender.

Restart the game at 11 20

Sad when the players and fans on the team that is losing would rather ti have just been called off.

    We can come back!!!

    not

Kind of hard for the Phillies to restart when they never got started in the first place.
