Phillies Sign Grady Sizemore

The Phillies have announced that they have signed outfielder Grady Sizemore. Per Pat Gallen, Sizemore will report to Lehigh Valley on Thursday.

Sizemore hit .216/.288/.324 in 205 PA with the Boston Red Sox before being released earlier this month. Sizemore was a three-time All-Star from 2006 through 2008 with Cleveland.

    I like it.

    No risk here.

And he could be the best outfielder on the team in a week lol.

Byrd and he might give us 2 thirds of an outfield at some point.

Agree 100%. Could he be any worse than Dom Brown? Incidentally, although Byrd has had his issues, I think its interesting that the Phillies were filleted for NOT signing Sizemore or Chris Young who is also on the verge of being released by the Mets.

I don’t remember any backlash at all for not signing those guys.

I just read ( on a message board FWIW) that he can opt out if not brought up to the big club by the AS break.

    Anyone else hear this?

Never mind – just read it on MLBTR- It’s apparently true.

Meh he can’t be any worse at the plate than Gwynn JR or in the field than Brown or Revere.

Awesome! Always liked the guy. It’s likely he won’t be too valuable, but there’s no risk here –and he won’t be taking away plate appearances from a younger developing player.

Awesome good sign, whether it works out or doesn’t

Why are we waiting to bring him up. Do it now and send Brown down for more “seasoning”.

Yeah, “seasoning” so he can be a career minor leaguer. It’s obvious that Brown’s not MLB material. Or at least GOOD MLB material. I really think it’s time to move on …
