braves2-300x113.gifThe Phillies get a third shot at Mike Folttynewicz tonight as they host the Braves in game two of a three-game set. The good guys counter with Nick Pivetta. Let’s win a series!

Gametime: 6:05 p.m.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Santana – 1B
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Hoskins – LF
  5. Williams – RF
  6. Franco – 3B
  7. Crawford – SS
  8. Alfaro – C
  9. Pivetta – P

Pitchers: Nick Pivetta (1-0, 2.57 ERA) vs. Mike Foltynewicz  (1-1, 2.77 ERA)

Scott Kingery got his first hit in a while yesterday but will sit tonight. Nick Williams gets out there to hit against a righty.

Your Gameday Beer: Tonight I want a good mix of hops and citrus, so I’m turning to Santilli by Night Shift Brewing in the Boston area. Pound for pound, Night Shift is one of my favorite breweries. Santilli is so quenchable and full-bodied, it’s a perfect outdoor drinking beer for those who want a little more complexity.

Go Phillies!

Saw the game on TV and it seemed they were off today. However the home plate umpire had a moving strike zone.

I think the defense has be terrible, Crawford needs to get sent back is just not comfortable, maybe from not playing everyday, maybe just not good enough. Losing Galvis hurts now, especially if Kingerly can not play ss. I think Kapler not having a set line up every day really hurts this young team. Santana might need a few days off. I really do think all the uncertainty for young baseball players is not good for the routine. You sit a guy like Atherr because your chart says it is time when he was finally looking comfortable at the plate. Santana hitting under .200 and swinging at bad pitches, this whole OBP nice, but when you can not hit it hurts, especially in the 2 hole. Can Kaplar at least move a guy hitting 200 down in the order for a week. I do think this team my be 500 despite Kaplar but with a competent manager this team could be in playoff contention
