Francisco, Kendrick Will be Back in 2011

Ben Francisco and Kyle Kendrick were both tendered contracts today, meaning they’ll be back with the team in 2011. Each will be going into the first year of arbitration with the Phillies.

Francisco could play a bigger role this upcoming season. In his two years in Philly, he’s been to the plate 301 times, putting together a .272 average with 11 home runs and 41 RBI with a .794 OPS.

Kendrick has been here since 2007 – during that time he’s 35-24 with an ERA of 4.69 and a WHIP of 1.425.

It seems as though people are excited to see what Ben Francisco will be able to do if Jayson Werth leaves town. Kyle Kendrick’s situation is quite different. He’s a candidate for the fifth starters spot, but he’s not guaranteed anything heading into spring training.
