Gameday 2018: Giants (19-17) at Phillies (20-15)

After watching Aaron Nola carve up the San Francisco offense, the Phillies will try to take the four-game set against the Giants tonight.

Gametime: 7:05 p.m.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Altherr – RF
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Santana – 1B
  5. Franco – 3B
  6. Williams – LF
  7. Florimon – SS
  8. Pivetta – P
  9. Knapp – C

Pitchers: Nick Pivetta (1-2, 4.76 ERA) vs. Chris Stratton (3-2, 3.99 ERA)

Pivetta has struggled recently, giving up 10 runs off 11 hits and six walks in his last six innings of work. Odubel Herrera has now reached base in 37 consecutive games. The Phillies won their 20th game last night; last year, they won their 20th game on June 5.

Your Gameday Beer: It’s a Hefeweizen kind of day. I choose Victory’s Mad King’s Weiss. Made with German floral hops and malts, it packs a nice little punch.

Go Phillies!

Tim first found the Phillies as a little infant at Veteran’s Stadium, cheering on a Juan Samuel game-winning home run in his very first game. With the pinstripes in his blood, he witnessed Terry Mulholland’s 1990 no-hitter, “Steve Carlton Night” at the Vet, game three of the 1993 World Series, countless games during the charmed 2008 championship season and various road excursions. Since November 2007 Tim’s been writing about them daily at Phillies Nation, becoming one of the world’s most popular Phillies scribes. You can catch him on Twitter and Facebook, as well. When he’s not talking about the Phils he’s relaxing with a St. Bernardus ABT 12 or one of his many favored brews.
