After getting swept at home by the New York Mets, manager Charlie Manuel called a team meeting to get things back on track for the Philadelphia Phillies. In their next game against the San Diego Padres, the Phillies were able to do just that, snapping their three-game losing streak with a convincing 7-3 victory. Starting pitcher Vance Worley held the Padres offense to three runs over six innings in a solid outing. The Phillies offense was carried by Carlos Ruiz and John Mayberry Jr., who each had three RBIs and a home run.
