Phillies sign first-round pick Andrew Painter, 10 others
The Philadelphia Phillies announced Saturday evening that they’ve come to terms with first-round pick Andrew Painter, a right-handed pitcher out of Calvary Christian High School in Florida.
Additionally, the Phillies reached deals with the following picks as well:
Ninth-round pick Gavin Tonkel, an outfielder from Heritage High School in California
10th-round pick Logan Cerny, an outfielder from Troy University in Alabama
11th-round pick Andrew Baker, a right-handed pitcher from Chipola College in Florida
Still outstanding are nine selections; third baseman T.J. Rumfield, outfielder Jared Carr, left-handed pitcher Jose Valadez-Acuna, left-handed pitcher Matt Osterberg, right-handed pitcher Ty Collins, right-handed pitcher Alex Garbrick, right-handed pitcher Malik Binns, right-handed pitcher Seth Halvorsen and right-handed pitcher Cam Wynne. Some of those draftees will have the option of going to play collegiately to consider.
Painter will immediately join the last two first-round picks made by the Phillies – shortstop Bryson Stott and right-handed pitcher Mick Abel – among the most coveted prospects in a system lacking in depth. Phillies Nation
