Jim Salisbury announces he’s departing NBC Sports Philadelphia

Jim Salisbury — one of the most decorated writers to ever cover the Phillies — announced Thursday that he is departing NBC Sports Philadelphia:

Salisbury had been at NBC Sports Philadelphia for more than a decade, following 13 years at The Philadelphia Inquirer. He’s also a contributor for Baseball America.

Locally, he’s been the most dominant insider in terms of getting scoops on the Phillies, and an excellent storyteller to go along with that. Jim is also the life of the party among Phillies writers, which may not sound like that big of an accomplishment, but he’s pretty fun to be around, which has certainly contributed to his success as a beat writer. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone currently covering the team that hasn’t been influenced by him in some way.

Here’s hoping that Jim continues to get the opportunity to cover the team on some basis, if he still wants to.
