Phillies Therapy: Pitching concerns, the value of Kyle Schwarber

José Alvarado and Gregory Soto, the two Phillies lefty flamethrowers, have struggled recently. (Cheryl Pursell)

What’s your biggest concern regarding Phillies pitching as the team heads into the final few weeks of the regular season?

Paul Boye and Matt Gelb discuss concerns regarding Gregory Soto, Aaron Nola and Taijuan Walker on the latest episode of “Phillies Therapy.”

Also included is a long discussion on Kyle Schwarber’s polarizing 2023 statistics. There are reasons for old school and new school fans to hate on Schwarber, but Gelb argues that there has not been a more important transaction the Phillies have made over the last five years than signing Schwarber to a four-year, $79 million deal. Sure, the defense has been brutal, but he’s been that valuable to the Phillies both at the plate and in the clubhouse.
