Victor Arano shut down with elbow injury

Spring training has claimed its first Phillie to injury.

Victor Arano, the hard-throwing right-hander who some think may find his way in the Philadelphia bullpen at some point in 2017, has been shut down with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament.

That’s an elbow injury. The 22-year-old who is likely to start 2017 in Reading had an injection Wednesday, says Matt Breen, and won’t throw for at least four weeks.
