The Phillies now have a liberty bell mowed into the center field grass

While the Philadelphia Phillies were on the West Coast, center field at Citizens Bank Park got a bit of a makeover.

In a recent social media poll conducted by @Phillies, fans voted to have a liberty bell mowed into the center field grass at Citizens Bank Park. And in time for their three-game series against the San Diego Padres, the Phillies have made good on the wishes of the fans:

2022 marks the 19th season of play at Citizens Bank Park. MLB.com‘s Todd Zolecki notes that this is the first time that the Phillies have ever had a design in the outfield grass. It’s unclear if the bell — or some outfield design — will become a permanent fixture in center field.
